Step 1: Cleansing Your Curls

Shampoo vs. Co-Wash:
The first step in maintaining your curls is choosing the right cleanser. Fine or looser curls may benefit from a sulfate-free shampoo, while thicker curls often thrive with a co-wash, which adds moisture while gently cleansing. If you choose shampoo, ensure it's sulfate-free to preserve your natural oils.

Double Cleanse for Thorough Cleanliness:

  • Start by emulsifying a small amount of sulfate-free cleanser in your hands. Focus on massaging it into your scalp to lift dirt and build-up. A scalp massager can help here!

  • Rinse and repeat with a second cleanse, focusing on your mid-lengths and ends. For thicker hair, work in sections for an even cleanse, and smooth the cleanser down the lengths without rubbing the hair.

  • Rinse and repeat with a third cleanse if the shampoo hasn’t lathered up on either of the previous cleanses.

Use the Right Tools:

After your curls are completely dry, if they feel slightly crispy from the gel cast, apply a small amount of Curls hair oil to break the cast and reveal soft, defined curls. This step helps give your curls a natural, touchable finish.

Step 6: Maintaining Your Curls

Refresh Between Washes:
To keep your curls looking fresh, spray them lightly with water or a curl refresher to revive definition between wash days.

Protect Your Curls Overnight:
When it’s time for bed, protect your curls by using a silk bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase. This will help preserve your curl shape and reduce frizz overnight.
